I Shouldn't Be Allowed To Live Anywhere But Here.

So, another week has gone by, and we continue to settle into a routine.

Cameron had another good week at school(see left). He says he's trying to learn the German songs now, and he's branching out and trying a few new activities that they offer in his class. He even learned the name of one of his classmates, which is huge, because he's been saying "Hey You!" to everyone since December. Next Monday is his birthday and he'll get to bring cupcakes for the class, which should make him very popular. I finally broke down and bought jeans with a full elastic waistline for him. He couldn't keep his pants up, despite the adjustable waist, no matter how hard I tried. I bought suspenders figuring it was cheaper than all new pants, but he now refuses to wear them. People insist that his pants are just too big, but I defy them to get anything smaller around his belly, and if I try to put them around his hips they just fall off when he walks because he has no hips or butt to keep them up. Then of course, I put the bigger size around his belly, but when he goes potty, he only pulls them up to his hips, and before you know it.....the whole world is seeing his underwear ( sometimes they see everything, as the pants fall down and take the underwear with them). So......full elastic waistlines it is.......

I continue to have my adventures in cooking. I tried Alfredo sauce this week, but it turned out really gross........okay, Dave thought it was okay.....but he doesn't believe in anything having too much cheese. We think the recipe was based on American parmesan cheese, and the Swiss version is much dryer and sharper. Next time, I'll start with half as much and add more as needed. The real adventure this week will be making cupcakes for Cameron's class, since you can't just go to the store and buy 3 dozen fully iced cupcakes here. There are bakery's that do them, but I don't want to pay their prices so I'm making them......don't worry though....I'll use the chocolate cake mix you can buy at the store.....I know I'm not ready to do this from scratch. I will have to make homemade icing, but that doesn't appear too complicated. Thankfully, Dave has agreed to make a vanilla cake for Cameron's birthday, so we know that will turn our alright.

Dave continues to finish up projects he started in the states. He has declared February to be the month he starts on new projects here. Hopefully when he switches he won't have many meetings at odd hours, but I know I shouldn't keep my hopes up.

This weekend we went to Uetliberg, which is the mountain on the west side of Zurich. There is a train that takes you most of the way to the top and then when you hike all the way up you are at "The Top of Zurich" and you can see the entire
city. The sun was out and it was absolutely gorgeous! Cameron was impressed by the
playground and the microwave tower.

This morning as we were getting ready to go swimming I realized my wallet was missing. I had obviously lost it when we were on the mountain. Of course I freaked out because my passport and Cameron's passport were in the wallet. We're required to keep them on us until we get our long term visa permits. So as I'm panicking Dave says...."let's just call the restaurant at the top of the mountain and see if it got turned in." Would you believe it had!!!!! Everything was still in it! Dave said he wasn't surprised because I had read stories like this to him off the internet when we were planning our move, excited by how safe Switzerland was. I didn't remember that because I was in such a haze of stress and panic that I was just functioning on adrenaline. Still.......it's amazing. Of course this isn't the first time I've lost a wallet....I'm beginning to think the blond thing may be true.

So....we had to go back up the mountain today. This time, we took a sled and Cameron got to do some sledding. As you can see, he had a miserable time :)
